Hallå pals!
Jonas here with another issue of Indie Notebook to get some ideas out of my noggin, and to inspire you to do the same.
Somehow three years of game development just flashed by, very slowly… If that’s even possible. What I want to say is; release-week is here! Surmount comes out TOMORROW (May 2) on PC, Mac and Nintendo Switch.
I’m gonna remind you all again once it’s really available for purchase. And I will ask you all for a small favor if you are planning to buy the game on Steam. But I’ll save that for then!
Right now I’m just fixing small things and trying to post about the game everywhere I can think of. And I actually feel pretty calm. I didn’t expect that, only thing for me right now is that it’s hard to fall asleep, I keep thinking about whether I’ve forgotten anything. So I’m pretty tired. But Jasper is the real champ, putting so much time into making sure the Switch port runs well and squishing the last bugs (just look at his playtime).
I’ll keep it that short today, I will have more to say about it tomorrow or in the future.
Mini Notes
🐦 Tweet - Surmount 3 years ago
It’s insane to think of how long it took to get the game to where it is today. Now I kinda take for granted the way it looks but there was so much work behind getting it to this stage. And looking at those little hands, but looking at those hands with fingers in the prototype is the funniest part of it to me.
🕹️ Game - Advance Wars GBA
Apple recently allowed emulators to be used on iPhones without hacks. So I got the Delta app through AltStore Pal and I’ve been playing lots of Advance Wars on it. What I really want to do right now is hide under a thick pled and play this for an entire day.
Panel of the week
(from
)Thank you for reading Indie Notebook! See you again tomorrow when Surmount is out!
Take care and have a creative week.
What a crazy thing! 3 years is a long time. Super cool.
I hope, for you, that you remember to take it in — this moment of accomplishment.
Gotta charge that Pro Controller tonight, so that I’ll be ready to dive in (or climb up?) tomorrow.
Early in the morning (and late at night), my brain has more divergent abstract thoughts, so I happened to wonder what that space deer panel would look like if it didn't have the border on the top and left, as if to show the movement and have the clouds leak out the frame. Kinda interesting. https://i.imgur.com/sUqdn9L.png
Release day so soon! So excited for you!!!!
