4 Mini Notes
Hi pal!
Today’s installment is gonna be a breeeeezy one. I will just share a couple of links and some quick thoughts today.
I just went to Paris this weekend and attended my first pride parade! It was cool, I would have done it way earlier, but somehow I never feel like I’m fully present when I go to huge gatherings like this, my body is there but I don’t feel like I can really participate. I try though!
Fittingly enough, the first Mini Note is pride-related…

🌈 Youtube video - One Piece: A Queer Retrospective
So glad that someone put together this video. It’s crazy how big OP is and still people talk so rarely about how great and unique the queer characters are. A bunch of them hold meaningful roles in the story and the way Luffy acts around them is just perfect. Luffy is supposed to be this super-accepting character who can befriend anyone, he never questions anything about anyone he comes across, I love that he trusts, admires and relies on all these queer characters.
Real world pirates were outcasts from society, so a lot of them were actually queer. It seems Oda did his research on this subject, but being a cis man he still gets things wrong sometimes, or doesn’t quite know how to juggle it. One Piece is both really good and pretty bad about this stuff.
🐦 Tweet - I can relate
“Give a man a game and he’ll have fun for a day. Teach a man to make games and he’ll never have fun again.”
It’s actually a lot of fun to make games but it definitely has an impact on my ability to enjoy playing them. That’s probably one of the prices you gotta pay for making stuff.
☔️ Show - How I Met Your Mother
I think I started this because finishing Friends gave me withdrawal syndrome. I need sitcoms in my life now.
It’s so easy to start watching compared to other types of shows. Sitcoms is the folk art of movies. It’s the laid-back, friendly type of music that you have in the background in a bar.
What’s gonna come out of me watching all of these sitcoms? I feel like my writing (on games and comics) is gonna take a queue from them. What really makes the sitcoms so good to me is the characters, they can be SO likable.
