Hi pal!
Hope you’re all doing well! This is what’s been going on for me this week.
My Famicase Exhibition 2023
Each year Meteor Club organizes a small exhibition where 252 artists submit covers for imaginary Super Nintendo games. This is my second year. I’m so stoked to be part of this project again. >:- )
Game description: It's a sunny day and you're having fun up in the trees. Your mom is worried, but you don't care. You are free.
Climb procedural trees and collect bugs. Comes with a real measuring tape so you can see how high you went up real trees.
This one was inspired by when I was a kid and climbed high up in the trees. My mom would beg me to come down. I stubbornly refused.
Despite working 100% on a climbing game every day, I couldn’t help but imagine yet another one. Maybe this won’t be my last? I doubt I’ll ever make something as huge as Surmount again though.
If you’re in Tokyo you can go see the full exhibition in their shop. I recommend checking out the other submissions on the #Famicase hashtag.

📝 Blog post - Only fuzzy ideas of what to do
I wrote this after submitting my first Famicase entry. It took me many years to build up the motivation/inspiration/determination to actually get one done. You can also see my previous submission in there.
🎥 Series - Severance
It’s about a workplace where the employees have their personality split in two, one half of them only exists in the workplace. Which means that they have no recollection of what they are like or what they do at work once they leave for the day, and vice versa.
I’m only 6 episodes in and it’s very much about the mystery, so I’m not gonna say anything else about it, except that it feels heavily inspired by The Stanley Parable (bit more serious though).
🔴 Youtube video - How to Write a Short Film
I’ve been writing a short story about Space Deer recently, I have no idea what format to give it yet (game? comic? short film??). I’m trying really hard to make the story short and perfect this time, so I’m planning and outlining carefully.
Dan Harmon’s Story Circle helped a lot on Surmount and quite a bit on the Space Deer story yesterday. This video does a great job of explaining it.
Time to start thinking about what my entry will be for next year’s Famicase.
Thank you for reading! Have a creative week.
