Hi pal!
One of the greatest weaknesses of creative people is that we make something and then never mention it again. I’m guilty of that.
For last week’s piece of writing I looked back through my archives to find a fitting image. This made realize I’ve put quite a few things out there that most of you might not be aware of.
There’s no rule that says creative work can only be posted/shared once.
From my archives
📝 Graphic novel - Empty Planet (free download)
I was probably about 15-16 when I made this, so in some ways it feels a little wonky and naive in its writing. But it’s the first project I completed that made me feel like I had properly started this journey that I’m on now.
It’s a short story about an alien stranded on an empty planet. I was in a sad place when I made it, making it made me feel better. It was quite therapeutic.
A friend of mine helped me a lot with the writing on this one, it wouldn’t have been the same without his coaching and support. Thank you Hasse, and thank you for reading the newsletter!
📝 Webcomic - Plantland
This is an abandoned dream project. I came so far with it but had to put it on the shelf because of Dropert. It had some mild popularity, maybe the audience would have built up over time? Who knows
Now it’s been so long that it would feel weird to just start up from where I was. It pains me that I didn’t finish it. Hard to motivate making a webcomic, it’s so hard to monetize.
📝 Game - Dropert
My first solo game that I actually completed. It seems so simple and easy to make now. I think I made the mistake of exploring every possibility and putting too high standards on myself. I should just have seen this as a learning thing. It was dumb to expect this to go big. Everybody says your first game will not sell. That’s probably true 99% of the time.
It’s free on PC and Mac. But you can also get it for your iOS devices.
📝 Blog post - Silly doodle VS The Biggest Painting Ever
Lately I’ve felt a bit unmotivated to write blog posts, I think because they are so conversational. I’m much satisfied when I can say something with a story instead. This was the first time I tried to write a blog post as fiction. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna do this again.
This newsletter is free and will always remain so. The best way to support it right now would be to pay-whatever-you-want for Empty Planet or Dropert on itch.io.
Or to share something I’ve made with a friend!
Thank you for reading! Have a creative week and make sure to give your past work some love.
What’s some work you’ve made that you’re still proud of?
Ummm your fiction blog post was SO good, Jonas!
I'm pretty sure you should do more of those.
The ending made me smile:
“I don’t know what it was supposed to be either.”
Relatable.
