☔️ Ploppy Weather: Dev Log #1 & Discord
I set up a discord server for people who wanna help test my games and give feedback
Hallå pals!
Jonas here with another issue of Indie Notebook to get some ideas out of my noggin, and to inspire you to do the same.
Through a spurt of sudden inspiration on Monday I ended up spending over 3 hours putting together a first development log entry for my game Ploppy Weather.
It’s too long to fit in this newsletter. So you’ll have to click yourself over there if you wanna read it.
→ Ploppy Weather: Getting started (dev log #1)
It sums up the first 7 months of thinking and progress on it. Among other things, there are couple of video clips there which I haven’t shared anywhere else.
It is quite a lengthy post. I will keep future logs shorter than this. I don’t intend to make this a regular thing like I do with this newsletter. I will just write one whenever I feel like enough has happened and there’s something worth saying.
One reason I felt so inspired to write this dev log was because I started reading dev logs of other developers that I look up to. Such as Lucas Pope, and Stuffed Wombat.
📣 Call for testers!
In a few weeks or months from now I would like to hear what other people think about Ploppy Weather. And I will continue to need this kinda help in the future as well, on this game and upcoming ones. So I made a discord server!
It will be a place to get quicker updates about my solo game projects, be that about releases or new builds to test. Of course there’s no obligation to test my games if you join. It’s fine if you just wanna lurk around. I might end up using it as a place to post random silly stuff too. And maybe stream some development??
I made a channel where you can show your own work too and maybe we can just have a good time there. I just made the server 10 minutes ago so it’s a bit barebones for now.
If you wanna test but don’t care about discord, send me an email and I’ll make sure to get you setup when the time comes!
Panel of the week
(from Space Deer)
Thank you for reading Indie Notebook! I’d love to hear what today’s issue made you think about.
Take care and have a creative week.
Just read your dev log. It sounds exciting! It feels like it is coming together nicely, even if there is a lot ahead. I love the character and the walking mechanic already.
I'm not really a Discord person, but feel free to send me a mail about testing.
Great to hear from you again, btw. I understand that updating regularly on Indie Notebook is a time commitment that may not be worth it when you have something like this going on.
Space Deer has been going strong though.
