Hello pal!
This Saturday we released Surmount’s DEMO on Steam and we got to announce it through Wholesome Direct!
It was exciting to share the spotlight with so many other great indie games. Since the very beginning of the project I hoped that maybe this would be part of Wholesome Direct, it’s surreal that it has actually happened now. I celebrated with my partner by going to an Indian Restaurant!
You can have a look at the brand-splooping-new trailer that we put together, right here...!
Jasper (my buddy and collaborator) tweeted,
“i turned 30 this week and my only little boy birthday wish is that all of you play my demo”
I hope you all would be so kind and fulfill this boy’s wishes, because it would also make me very happy. I hope you’ll give it a try!
Also, check this out! They put two little Surmount climbers on one of the official Wholesome Direct t-shirts, and they put them in quite a flattering (and fitting) spot! You can get it here (5$ will benefit AbleGamers).
Mini Notes
I’m dedicating today’s mini notes to share some of my favorite things revealed at Saturday’s Wholesome Direct.
In this one you play as a little mushroom who got separated from their family. I just started playing it on Switch, it’s very light on difficulty for the platforming and puzzles. It focuses more on charming characters and wholesome vibes, and it does so extremely well - I liked and rooted for Smushi (the main character) right from the get go.
I love first person games where you immersive yourself in carefully crafted and intricate environments. It’s the opposite of open world games. Sludge Life is very different but I suspect these games could be compared a bit in that regard.
I really like the building mechanics in Zelda Tears of The Kingdom, and I’m a sucker for most things with goofy physics. I will probably like this because it’s all about building little robots to solve silly tasks on mars (like delivering pizza 🍕).
SO - right now we’re hoping that some very popular person with a huge Youtube/Twitch following finds and plays the demo. Apparently that’s the number 1 thing that could really shoot our game into the stratosphere.
Please try the demo and spread the word about Surmount! You could even try to force a friend to play multiplayer with you online through Steam’s Remote Play feature.
Thank you as always for reading!
