Man, the next post is gonna be epic! You’re spoiling us :P

There’s a lot of crap horror movies but there are also some serious gems.

Maybe you’ll like The Descent; it’s cool and it has a bit of an adventure element as well, which might resonate with you.

I personally love The Witch - it is dark(!) and sophisticated - I’ll watch anything by Robert Eggers after that (The Lighthouse is also cool).

It's out (the PDF)!

I think I might like both of those movies. I've seen The Lighthouse too and quite liked it, it was very strange though.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've added them to my queue.

Dope! I’m probably gonna check it out tonight :D

You’re welcome about the recommendations.

The Lighthouse is indeed weird.

In a way, perhaps The Lighthouse is about a dark side of masculinity and The Witch, a dark side of femininity(?). Perhaps

I had some time to kill on a train station today so I decided to go to a French bakery nearby that I had heard about. I ended up with a bunch of stuff that looked delicious and went on my merry way back to the train station to catch my ride home.

After unpacking my stuff and doing some weekend cleaning I brewed a pot of tea, turned on some bossa nova music and got my baked goods ready. As I was sitting there enjoying myself, I opened up my laptop took a peek at your notebook.

First of all, very nice production! You made it into something of a genuine little artbook with fun commentaries, colored pages, etc. No wonder it took you a bit to put this together.

There was so much to take in (with your book as well as with my beast of a croissant) that I decide to write a few notes:

Page 5: Something really struck me about the colored backgrounds behind the sketches here. They are both compact and messy; artificial and organic. I don't know - but I like them!

Page 9: "The dichotomy of man. lol" is what I wrote in my notes...

Page 10: I don't know if you came up with the idea of drawing someone else drawing what you just made, when you are perhaps less than pleased with it - either way, that is amazing.

Page 27: Interesting concept about the "pleasure zone" - what I can note about the art is that sometimes for me your work hits an interesting sweet spot of what I might call "cozy surrealism" that I really like.

Page 29: "A cool set of class photos" ...

Page 30: The "dig me up" reminds me of a song called "Dig" by the band Incubus

Page 33: The mosquito drawing is just... WILD. For some odd reason I feel that this is the one that's gonna stick with me.

Page 36: The sketch to the left with the little guy in nature is extremely cute.

These were just some odd observations. My general experience between those was plenty of fun and cool art. I had few chuckles throughout :)

Most of the so-called failures didn't fail completely because no matter what, as always, you can't seem to help but imbue whatever you draw with a mountain load of personality.

Oh, - and the pastry wasn't all bad either, btw. Hehe

Thank you for sharing all your notes and thoughts about this Hasse!

I think I listened to some bossa nova music too as I was drawing this, or at least a very particular Mac DeMarco song with bossa vibes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2eaz-DQ7uE&t=4s

I'm always on the lookout for more bossa!

Maybe I should take that mosquito drawing further somehow, could become a pretty cool illustration/print...

You really make me feel seen with all your notes, observations and reflections, I'm lucky to have you around buddy!

My pleasure, Jonas.

Wow, turned out bossa nova was a fitting choice then. I just listened to a random playlist on Youtube but I am very smitten with Astrud Gilberto's early albums (who died this year - R.I.P.) :

You could take a chance on that mosquito drawing - then again, I might just be demented. Hehe

Anyway, I enjoy following your creative journey and giving my 2 cents along the way!

Very fitting yeah! Haha

That's very bossa-groovy. I'll add this to my bossa playlist!

Thank you man!

Your wholesome story and the joy you share with the author, Hasse, brings me a lot of joy :) I think the excitement is so contagious that I’m feeling *more* excitement (perpetual excitement machine?); I enjoy that the world can exist in this way. Keep being you!

Thank you for the sweet comment, Ash. That made my morning :)

I am glad that my elaborate comment managed to give you something.

Excitement is a funny thing. I wish there was more of it, out there in the world... All it seems to take is for one to lead more with love and less with fear.

Well - perhaps that's easier said than done :)

Love that the two of you are interacting here!

Not sure if "perpetual excitement machine" is already a concept or if you made that up Ash, but I love it.
